McIntyre (Neal Run Restoration & Rail Trail) Project Public Meeting

AWARE is hosting a public meeting on July 14, 2026 at 7pm at the Coal Run/McIntyre Fire Hall about the McIntyre (Neal Run Restoration & Rail Trail) Project. Representatives from Stream Restoration Incorporated, the landowner and grant administrator, and AWARE will explain the different aspects of the project, including coal refuse removal in McIntyre, daylighting a stream, and a 4.5-mile rail trail. This project intends to clean up the legacy of old mining while creating a community resource. Learn how another nearby trail, West Penn Trail, has benefited the community from John Wenzel, the Executive Director of the Conemaugh Valley Conservancy.
